We want to attract, develop and retain highly motivated, competent and performance-oriented employees.
Facts:
- We recruit thousands of new employees each year.
- In 2007 we welcomed over 3,000 (1,200 of which from Poland and the Baltic countries) new colleagues into Nordea.
- All new employees participate in the Nordea Introduction Programme.
- We have recruited more males improving the overall gender balance among all employees.
- 700 employees changed to a new position within the Group during the first half of 2007.
Developing our employees
We offer a full range of professional leadership training programmes covering everything from potential managers to top executives. We also have a special focus on the development of trainees and are committed to increasing the number of females in management.
Facts:
- In 2007, 82 recent graduates participated in the renowned Nordea Trainee Programme.
- Of the 434 trainees recruited since 2000, 80% have chosen to stay in Nordea.
- Our Trainee Programme has been externally ranked as one of the best on the market.
- Both genders should be represented among the final three candidates when recruiting for managerial and executive positions.
- The number of female managers has increased since 2005.

- The total number of employees in Nordea is 34,684 (31,721.4 full-time equivalents).
- The gender distribution is 63% female and 37% male.
- Of all managers 40% are female and 60% are male.
- Of all employees 11.3 % hold a university degree.
- Among our managers 23.3 % hold an academic degree.
