Best Global Trade Finance Programme Global Risk-Sharing Partner

2010-08-12 Best GTFP Global Risk Sharing Partner

Nordea was granted IFCs Award of recognition – Best GTFP Global Risk-Sharing Partner – during the 3rd Annual GTFP Bank Partner Meeting in Istanbul in April. The event gathered participants from about 50 countries throughout the world.

GTFP (the Global Trade Finance Programme) extends and complements the capacity of banks to deliver trade financing by providing risk mitigation in new or challenging markets where trade lines may be constrained. Nordea has been a member of GTFP as a confirming bank since 2006 and has been actively using the IFC’s facility for structuring trade deals in markets like Pakistan and Palestine.

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) was founded in 1956 and is a member of the World Bank Group. IFCs vision is “that people should have the opportunity to escape poverty and improve their lives” and this is done through e.g. promoting open and competitive markets in developing countries. IFCs Global Trade Finance Programme (GTFP) is one tool for this.
