We are happy to announce that Stefan Henningsson will join Nordea Group Sustainable Finance as Climate Specialist on November 1st. Stefan has a solid background of working with climate issues and innovations for WWF International as well as WWF Sweden and has since 2008 held the positions as Senior Advisor Climate Innovation and Programme Director Climate Change. Among other things, he has been part of WWF International’s Leadership Team for the Global Climate and Energy Practice and part of setting up WWFs platforms for business, cities and innovation to align with ambition needed from updated climate science.
“The financial sector has a key responsibility in avoiding stranded fossil fuel assets and combat the worst effects of climate change. It is an urgent issue and the risks associated with failing to combat climate change are enormous. The global transition also presents a trillion-dollar opportunity for investors in the many solutions. I am really excited to join Nordea and help integrate an ambitious climate agenda into core business areas,” says Stefan Henningsson.
Nordea has for the past decade had a strong focus on sustainability with the clear objective of being a driving force for change within the financial sector. Nordea’s deputy Head of Group Sustainable Finance, Ylva Hannestad, stresses that the recruitment of Stefan Henningsson emphasizes Nordea’s sincere commitment to actively contribute to a greener banking industry.
