A Nordea report in which statistical data mining techniques were used to analyze global publications throughout 2015 has revealed the top 10 topics in the world of transaction banking.

Drawn from more than 1,500 white papers, articles and significant news reports, this meta-analysis used semantic clustering software to identify which words were used most frequently and how particular topics evolved over time. These topics were grouped into categories including payments, trade finance, and treasury in order to identify the most important issues within the global conversation.

These issues are ongoing areas of interest for finance teams, such as cash and liquidity. Others focus on current affairs, such as China’s increasing prominence and the state of the global economy.

The greatest takeaway is that the entire transaction banking industry is changing dramatically, as evidenced by the high volume of writing on topics relating to the restructuring of global trade. This connects to new opportunities for supply chain finance, which is becoming a focal point of transaction banking.

Nordea has collected all of these topics and more into an interactive report, detailing not only how these issues are changing over time, but also how they are interconnected with each other.
