Nordea is delighted to have been named as 2017’s Best Overall Bank for Cash Management in Western Europe, the Nordics and in Norway by Global Finance magazine.

But, according to recent results from Prospera, work remains to be done in the area of customer delivery.

In January 2017, Nordea received the award for Best Bank for Cash Management in Western Europe from one of the industry’s standard-bearers, Global Finance, marking a huge achievement for Nordea. The award shows the industry support for the progressive steps currently being taken in the Cash Management and Transaction Banking areas.

Simultaneously, however, the Prospera results from the Nordics illustrated that we are not finished with our ambitious journey, and we still need to improve in many areas. The differing results show that while Nordea is being recognised by the industry for our strong commitment to the cash management industry and the shaping of tomorrow’s banking, we are not yet providing a “high touch experience” for our clients across segments and markets in our day-to-day business.

"We are thrilled to have received this recognition from Global Finance magazine. We are on a very exciting journey in Cash Management, but we must remember to balance our delight at receiving these awards with a continued focus on improving our customer delivery. We are not where we want to be. However, the Global Finance awards strengthen our confidence that we are on the right path and show that the industry also believes in our journey and approach," commented Erik Zingmark, co-Head of Transaction Banking and Head of Cash Management at Nordea.

Overall, Global Finance magazine recognised Nordea with three regional and one country award. Nordea took the top prize in the following categories:

  • Best Overall Bank for Cash Management in Western Europe
  • Best Overall Bank for Cash Management in the Nordic Region
  • Best Provider of Short-Term Investments/Money Market Funds in the Nordic Region
  • Best Treasury and Cash Management Provider in Norway

The Global Finance awards follow Nordea’s success in the Treasury Management International (TMI) awards in December, where Nordea won Best Bank in the Nordics for Cash & Liquidity Management.
