HELSINKI – Europe´s leading startup event, Slush, will take over Helsinki on Wednesday and Thursday this week – and for the first time, Nordea will have a stand at the event. Over 17,500 attendees from over 124 countries will take part, including over 2,000 startups and 1,000 investors.
Nordea will be present in both the Slush main exhibition area and at the Investor fair area next to Slush on both days, and will be looking to connect with the startup and investor communities.
We’ll be inviting attendees to our stand to talk about how Nordea works with startups – including the Startup Accelerator programme, opportunities around Open API, networking through Nordea’s FinTech roundtables and our new Startup & Growth unit, dedicate to supporting and onboarding entrepreneurs.
Crowdfunding, Nordea Accelerator and Siirto
The launch of Nordea Crowdfunding, the new alternative funding platform, the same week as Slush, also gives us a chance to pitch the solution to both investors and startups. The solution means investing in interesting growth companies is now available to everyone, while companies seeking alternative funding opportunities can do so on a platform backed by the largest bank in the Nordics.
Participants in the second Nordea Accelerator will also be present to share peer-to-peer knowledge – and maybe even help to recruit future participants. Nordea Accelerator is an intensive programme that allows startups to develop their business idea together with multiple experts and mentors. This year the programme took place in Helsinki and Stockholm with support from Nestholma’s Venture Accelerator.
Siirto, the mobile payments solution that we will launch to the Finnish market in spring 2017, will also be on the agenda for local attendees. Siirto is a multi-bank mobile payment solution, standardised across Finland. It offers card-free, instant payments and cash transfer for customers and merchants, and will be the easiest method to receive payments through apps or online.
Other Nordea activities
Nordea will also launch the new Startup & Growth unit in Finland, which is an initiative to help celebrate the centenary of the Republic of Finland - “Finland 100”. The Support & Growth unit will support entrepreneurs to grow their business and to make sure that all the needed support and opportunities are in place for different needs and requirements.
Away from the main Slush event, in the Investor area, we will be running a separate programme involving market talks, Nordea Invest speakers and a remote meeting facility. Nordea Crowdfunding will also be part of the Investor area stand.
