Nordea’s Global Chief Economist Helge J. Pedersen has been appointed Chairman of the Chief Economist Group (CEG) under the European Banking Federation (EBF).

The CEG consists of chief economists from European banks and/or national bankers associations and has participants from almost all countries represented in the EBF. The main function of the group is to discuss and present macroeconomic, structural and monetary policy issues of key importance to the European financial services industry.

The group meets on an annual basis with high-ranking representatives from the European Commission and the ECB, among others, and prepares a semi-annual Economic Outlook, which is presented to the media (in Brussels) and discussed with the European Commission. In addition, memos are drafted for economic policymakers to use in banking policy matters.
