Nordea won the awards for Best Private Bank in Norway and Sweden, when Global Finance named the world’s best private banks 2020. The winners are banks that best serve the specialized needs of high-net-worth individuals, the magazine said. In Norway, Nordea won the best private bank award for the third consecutive year.

“We work in a systematic and targeted way each day to provide added value to our customers. We aren’t only honored by winning this award, we see it as confirmation that what we are doing is working”, said Torsten Østensen, head of Private Banking in Norway.

The ranks of the world's wealthy have grown and they have also become more diverse in terms of origins, attitudes and expectations. The winners have shown agility and sophistication in adapting to the new realities of managing wealth, Global Finance’s Publisher and Editorial Director Joseph D. Giarraputo said in a statement.

The winners are selected by Global Finance’s editorial board. Decisions are also based on input from executives and industry insiders as well as on research. The current rating was based on performance between 1 July, 2018 and 30 June, 2019. The Best Private Bank prices were awarded for the fifth consecutive year.

“Our advisors and specialists are extremely committed to serving our customers. They focus on our customers’ entire financial situation, going beyond just investments, and take a lifelong perspective on our customers' needs. With the backing of the entire bank we are able to fine-tune our offering according to individual needs and create customized solutions for our customers”, said Ninni Franceschi, head of Private Banking in Sweden.

New York-based Global Finance magazine has a circulation of 50,000 and readers in 188 countries.
