How can corporations be sustainable while also creating shareholder value? Experts will be debating this topic and more at Nordea’s third annual Sustainable Finance conference. The symposium, which for the first time also features business-idea pitches from innovative start-ups, is held inStockholm today.

“This is the third time we’re hosting the conference with a record amount of attendees. Our two earlier conferences have made it very clear that sustainability is high on the agenda in the Nordic region and that corporates and investors alike are realising that sustainability is a key factor for their long-term operating and financial performance and with that also share price performance,” says Mathias Leijon, global co-head of Corporate and Investment Banking. He hosts the event together with Thina Margrethe Saltvedt, chief analyst in Group Sustainable Finance.

Speakers this year include Paras Anand (Head of Asset management, Asia Pacific, Fidelity International), Allison Kirkby (President and Group CEO, TDC Group), Niklas Adalberth (Founder, Norrsken Foundation), Maria Strømme (Professor in Nanotechnology, Uppsala University) and Martin Spolc (Head of the Sustainable Finance and Fintech unit in the European Commission). The broad spectra of speakers provides insights, perspectives and learnings not only from the business sector but also from the NGO, academic and political areas.

About 400 of our largest corporate customers, along with key business leaders from across the Nordics, will be present, which makes it the biggest sustainable finance conference in the Nordics. The panel discussions will focus on how corporations can create sustainable shareholder value, how sustainability drives regulation and how technology can help solve global challenges. This year we’ve added a new element; we’ve invited innovative start-ups to pitch their business ideas.

“Nordea’s aim is to take a leadership position within Sustainable Finance and thus make it possible for our customers to transition towards a sustainable future. This conference is an excellent way to set the transformation in motion through discussions and learning from others,” said Thina Margrethe Saltvedt.
