Speed-dating to bring startups and investors together as well as a pre-night for fintech pitches. These are some of Nordea’s contributions to this year’s Slush event in Helsinki, created to empower entrepreneurs. This is the third time that we are one of the main partners of the event .
Some 4,000 startups and 2,000 investors are expected to attend Slush 2019. The event takes place 21-22 November at the Helsinki Expo and Convention Center. Representatives from our Startup & Growth unit will be present at the venue, offering entrepreneurs the possibility to discuss thoughts and ideas with experienced startup supporters.
Nordea’s Startup & Growth unit has been in operation since 2016 and currently has about 2 500 companies as customers. So far, we have granted our startup customers a total of about 350 million euros in financing. Supporting startups is a way for Nordea to do business as well as to take responsibility for society as a whole.
“We share our business knowledge and network with startups and help them as a partner on their path to growth. Growing companies benefit society and at best also help Finland internationally, said Vesa Riihimäki who heads our Startup & Growth unit in Finland.
The speed dating will take place at Nordea’s booth at the Slush venue. Ahead of the actual event, we also invite startups and investors to a Nordic Fintech Night at the Nordea headquarter. This is an opportunity to network and listen to pitches by companies that have been hand-picked by fintech hubs around the Nordics.
Journalists are welcome to attend speed-dating sessions and the Nordic Fintech Night. Please notify Nordea's press team of your attendance, or to request interviews, before 4 PM on 19 November.
