When the world goes digital, so does Nordea

Digital disruption is rapidly changing the competitive landscape for corporates, prompting a strong drive to adopt and apply new technologies and capabilities.  And Nordea is no exception

On Friday 23rd of March, researchers Jeanne Ross and Nils Fonstad from MITi CISR delivered dynamic presentations at Nordea’s head office in Stockholm about the increasing importance of digitalization and how Nordea is contributing to fruitful partnership between Nordea and MIT.

Nordea initiated the collaboration with MIT in 2016. As one of MIT’s 80 dedicated corporate sponsors, Nordea is an important collaborator for the institute and shares its vision of digitalization for the benefit of both customers and employees. As Nordea CEO, Casper von Koskull has previously said: “We are almost two years into the transformation of Nordea. Since investments are starting to deliver, it is time to enter the next phase, in which we see that we can structurally bring down costs and increase efficiency". Jeanne Ross stressed during her presentation that the road to digitalization is a bumpy but necessary one and companies need to bring customers and employees on the journey with an inspiring digital vision. Digitalization is no longer merely an exciting option for companies wanting to be at the forefront, but a necessity for all modern businesses, not to mention society more broadly.

I was moved and proud by the interest and team work related to MIT’s visit. Our Stockholm meeting room was full on Friday and colleagues from all the Nordic countries participated via broadcast and Skype. The interest in our partnership with MIT and the journey Nordea is on starts with all of us working together towards a clear vision of the best we can be; both for our people and for our customers.
