Estonian responsible business index was compiled by the Responsible Business Forum for the seventh year and Nordea was recognised with the quality label`s bronze level. In 2014, a record-breaking 77 businesses assessed sustainability in their companies.

50 companies were recognised for implementing responsible principles with gold, silver or bronze level quality labels indicating a sound level.

The quality label's gold, silver or bronze level is attributed to companies that place importance on sustainability and whose operations demonstrate caring, deliberate and multi-faceted actions toward the surrounding human and natural environment and stakeholders.

In following these principles, Nordea bank places most strategic emphasis on responsible borrowing, responsible investment advice and valuing and promoting the local cultural landscape as culture carries a special significance in small countries.

In order to participate in compilation of the index, companies must fill in a comprehensive questionnaire mapping the extent to which CSR principles are considered in the company`s strategy and main activities and the community the company operates in – the natural, work and market environment. Thereafter, a 25-member team of experts qualified the companies` responses; in addition, KPMG Baltics auditors conducted random audits. The appraisal considered the company`s size and area of activity.
