New head of research and chief economist appointed in Finland

Nordea has appointed Aki Kangasharju as head of research and Roger Wessman as chief economist in Finland effective 1 February 2012.

Aki Kangasharju, 42, has strong experience in the economy. He comes from the position of Director General at the Government Institute for Economic Research (VATT). Before serving as Director General, he held the position of Director of Research with the same organisation. His earlier positions include researcher at Pellervo Economic Research (PTT).

Roger Wessman, 45, Nordea's current head of research since 2007, has been appointed chief economist. Since 1993 he has held various positions as both an analyst and economist.

With these appointments we ensure that our research team comprises the best competence in the business, says Mikko Ayub, head of Nordea Markets in Finland.

Other members of Nordea's research team include, among others, economist Pasi Sorjonen, who analyses the Finnish economy.
