Nordea will launch a new mobile service in Finland on 1 March. The Siirto service will allow you to transfer money from one account to another using a mobile phone number. The service will also enable real-time transfer of cash to accounts in other banks, as long as they join the service. The funds will immediately become available to the recipient.
The Siirto mobile app is free of charge and can be downloaded onto Android and iOS devices. Users must register their mobile phone number and bank account number with the service. In addition, they need the Nordea Codes app.
The new mobile payment solution is based on the new open mobile payment system being developed by Automatia, the company that maintains Otto ATMs in Finland. The system is open to all Finnish banks and other payment service providers.
- Siirto offers a safe and quick way of transferring money. A similar service is already used by around 50% of the population in Sweden. We believe that there will be strong demand for the service in Finland, too, says Jussi Mekkonen, Head of Personal Banking Finland.
The Siirto service is a part of Nordea’s broader concept of digital services.
- Initially, the service will work between different Nordea accounts. I believe that several banks will soon join the service. Our aim is that customers will be able to manage their finances easily and conveniently, and we are constantly developing services that promote this aim, says Mekkonen.
