After years of consistent and dedicated work with ESG and responsible investments, Nordea Asset Management is considered a pioneer within this area. With that in mind it is not surprising the European magazine Capital Finance International (CFI) has awarded Nordea Asset Management for best ESG (environmental, social and governance) investment process in Europe 2016 for the third year in a row.
- We are thrilled to receive this award for the third time in a row which confirms that we are very consistent in this matter and that we are moving in the right direction with the ambition to integrate ESG in all parts of our fund management - says Hetal Damani, Co-Head of Responsible Investments at Nordea Asset Management and continues:
- We have been one of the pioneers in Europe when it comes to ESG and will continue to find the best solutions for our investors and create responsible returns. Simply because we believe that this gives our investors better returns in the long run.
From the CFI Judges’ Remarks 2016:
“By combining financial performance with responsibility, Nordea Asset Management strives to offer clients responsible solutions. They add value to their clients by actively considering environmental, social and governance issues (ESG) in their analysis and investment decisions – particularly through their investment research, asset allocation and performance monitoring. Nordea Asset Management works to integrate ESG research into the investment processes of their investment units and also develops and run specialized ESG products.”
ESG and Nordea’s investment process
By combining financial performance with responsibility, we strive to offer clients responsible solutions. We believe that we can add value to our clients by actively considering environmental, social and governance issues (ESG) in our analysis and investment decisions – particularly through our investment research, asset allocation and performance monitoring. We recognize that integrating ESG issues forms part of our fiduciary duty to clients and beneficiaries and want to see their portfolios managed in a way that systematically assesses drivers of risk and return over the long term. We ensure that our ESG research is integrated into the investment processes of our investment units and also develop and run specialized ESG products and services together with other units.
