The Global Finance award win acknowledges our strategic ambitions in trade finance, and that the initiatives we are running has put Nordea Trade Finance at the forefront when it comes to delivering the best solutions to customers.

The award comes on the back of Nordea Trade Finance’s Global Finance win in 2016 for Product Innovation and Process Innovation for Trade Finance Global. Earlier this year, Nordea were named as 2017’s Best Overall Bank for Cash Management in Western Europe and the Nordics in a strong showing for Transaction Banking offering.

“We are obviously delighted with this award for Best Corporate/Institutional Bank for Trade Finance Services in Western Europe from such a well-known and reliable publication as Global Finance,” commented Urban Ljungblom, Head of Trade & WCM Sales Development and Digitalisation at Nordea. “We have been working hard to deliver the best to our customers, whether that is full digitising MT798, supplying an interactive Risk Map, improving Trade Finance Global or launching our Trade Portal. So we are happy to receive this sign of approval from the industry.”

Winning banks were selected among entries evaluated by a world-class panel of judges at Infosys and Global Finance Editorial Board. Some of the criteria used in the evaluation process include strength of strategy for attracting and servicing digital customers, success in getting clients to use digital offerings, growth of digital customers, breadth of product offerings and evidence of tangible benefits gained from digital initiatives.

“Digital banking is here to stay, and this year’s winners illustrate the importance of relentless innovation in products, systems and services,” said Joseph D. Giarraputo, publisher and editorial director of Global Finance. “Corporate and retail clients expect transformative new solutions, and this year’s winners consistently deliver on those expectations.”
