Nordea is participating in European Cyber Security Month during October with a multi-channel campaign aimed at private customers and employees, with the goal of promoting online security and offering guidance on fraud prevention.
The Norwegian Center for Information Security (NorSiS) has arranged the campaign in Norway and around 30 different companies have signed up to raise awareness of cyber security to help make it much more part of everyday life. Nordea is the first bank in the Nordic region to commit itself to joining such a cause.
Helping individuals take responsibility against cyber crime
With the bank’s ongoing evolution towards a future of enhanced digital services, Nordea sees strong cyber security as a prerequisite for its future banking services online. This is why Isabel Arkvik from Nordea’s Fraud Intelligence and Incident team feels that raising awareness is one important opportunity the bank has in ensuring that cyber criminals are thwarted.
“Nordea has extensive IT security mechanisms in place but we also want our customers, employees and society in general to be well informed, be proactive and take responsibility to protect themselves against potential fraudsters, hackers and malicious software.”
During October’s campaign, Nordea will use the “Stop-Think-Click” message with four different topics to be communicated both internally and externally. At the start of each week Nordea’s website, Intranet, Facebook page, Twitter page and the Marketing screens at the branch offices will give practical information and guidelines on relevant topics. Brochures will also be made and distributed across Nordea’s employee canteens. It’s hoped that the blanket coverage will raise the necessary interest in the increasing importance of cyber security in the digital age.
