Nordea Bank established Nordea Art Foundation Finland (former Art Foundation Merita) on 15 March 2002. This non-profit foundation aims to support research and preservation of Finnish art, art history, and the history of commercial banking by:

  • maintaining and developing its own art collection, and placing its works in the public view,
  • loaning works from its collection to exhibitions in Finland and abroad,
  • supporting Finnish art and art history research,
  • maintaining a banking museum related to commercial banking,
  • developing its collection related to commercial banking,
  • fostering collaboration with other museums,
  • maintaining and developing an history archives an information services related to commercial banking, and
  • supporting Finnish commercial bank and economic history research.
