Employee benefits

Benefits for every stage of life

Pay and pension

We tailor our pay and pension offerings to local markets, ensuring they are fair and relevant. Just like our benefits, these offerings vary by country. Pay is determined through a holistic process, where experience, qualifications and performance in relation to the role are all considered – ensuring fairness.

Work and personal life

We appreciate that work is just one part of life, so our benefits are designed to support both work and personal life. Our hybrid way of working provides flexibility as to where and when you work, depending on your role and team. This can include flexible start and end times, and the option to work remotely for up to 2 days a week. Whether you’re raising a family, pursuing studies or navigating life’s unexpected events, we have benefits that can support you.

Health and well-being

Employee health matters to us. In most of our locations, we provide healthcare coverage and offer a range of well-being benefits – from mental health support and confidential counselling to ergonomic training and workplace movement breaks. We also encourage a healthy lifestyle through employee clubs and support for sports and cultural activities.

Parental leave

We believe in equal and inclusive support for families. Our parental leave policy – available to all family types and in some cases exceeding local legal requirements – enables both parents to spend time with their newborn.

Volunteering

All employees are invited to volunteer for 16 hours a year through our community engagement programmes. In 2024 we resumed in-person volunteering opportunities, although online and hybrid volunteering activities continue to be popular. We view employee engagement within the D&I area as highly valuable and encourage participation in our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). Employees can volunteer for an additional 16 hours a year for ERG-related work.

Development and growth

Progress towards fulfilling your aspirations as we empower you to design your career the way you want it. Create your own personal development plan and work actively on your development together with your leader, access learning platforms such as Udemy, and take part in job rotations or stretch assignments that help you shape your career path.

At Nordea, we get time off to celebrate important moments in life. When I got married, I received an extra day off, which made me feel supported. For me, it’s a sign that Nordea cares – not just about the work we do, but also about who we are and the milestones we reach.

Your local benefits as a Nordea employee

Through Nordea's community engagement programmes, I had the chance to hold mock job interviews for sixth grade students together with a colleague. It was inspiring to see the students’ enthusiasm and curiosity – which highlighted how important it is to start developing these skills early on to set them up for success in the future.
