At Nordea in Poland our employees play a very important role in creating a diverse and inclusive culture., We have several so-called Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) related to different topics such as gender balance, skills diversity, age diversity, interculturalism and LGBTQI, etc. ERGs play an important role in the implementation of Nordea’s diversity and inclusion initiatives, including the Polish branch.

Besides the ERGs we also have many employee grassroots activities. Regattas, ski trips, tennis, after work meetings etc. are frequently organised, In addition, we’re involved in volunteering – many of our employees volunteer at universities, secondary schools and even kindergartens, sharing their banking knowledge.

That means that diversity and inclusion practices at Nordea are incorporated into the organisation from the bottom up. How we want to develop our workplace is clearly defined in our diversity and inclusion aspirations and strategy, as well as in our diversity and inclusion policy published here.

Nordea in Poland

  • We have a 50/50 split between women and men (also at the leadership level).
  • We have 61 different nationalities (from the countries: Bangladesh, Ukraine, Hungary, India, Germany, Romania, Italy, UK, Turkey, Brazil, Finland, Spain etc.)
  • Cultural understanding is extremely important in our multinational work environment. Hence, employees are offered a wide range of training, e.g. in the field of unconscious bias, mandatory for managers, diversity management and international cooperation.

Meeting the criteria

This recognition was given following the comprehensive assessment conducted in the 4th edition of the Diversity IN Check survey. The survey criteria align with globally recognized standards such as the Sustainable Development Goals, ISO 26000, GRI Standards, and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.

To qualify for the Diversity IN Check certification, a set number of points must be achieved through the survey questionnaire, with specific benchmarks established for each scored factor. This assessment framework ensures an impartial and transparent evaluation of diversity management practices within an organisation.

The Responsible Business Forum, a driving force behind CSR, ESG and DEI initiatives, spearheaded this research to evaluate employers' proficiency in promoting diversity and fostering inclusive work environments. As a result, our company's dedication and championing diversity and inclusion policies has been duly recognised.
