“Even though the target is Nordea’s, making it come to life is dependent on how our customers act and react. That’s why working together with our customers and the communities in which we operate is crucial: it’s the only way we can achieve this goal,” she said and continued:
“The sustainability transition requires systemic change. We can help drive this by drawing on our core strength as a sustainability leader in our work while taking social responsibility in our local communities. By using our expertise, we can help increase awareness, competence and resilience and inspire sustainable innovation among customers and in our communities.”
Strong focus on community engagement
Anja Hannerz underlined the importance of community engagement initiatives – which Nordea employees actively participate in.
“Even though the required transition and sustainability targets are quite challenging and there’s a long journey ahead, our employees are already creating positive change in society. For example, they’re partnering with startup communities, investors, non-profits and schools to help build financial skills and support financial well-being,” she said, and continued:
"It’s the combination of our daily goal-oriented work and our community engagement activities that will make it possible for Nordea to achieve its targets and be a changemaker in our communities.”
