In today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape, diversity and inclusion have become crucial for organisational success. According to McKinsey and Company’s 2023 report, “Diversity Matters Even More: The Case for Holistic Impact,” companies in the top quartile for gender diversity in executive teams were 39% more likely to have above average profitability than companies in the fourth quartile. This data underscores the tangible benefits of fostering a diverse workforce.

One way for organisations with technology departments to promote diversity and inclusion is to participate in conferences like the Women in Tech event, showcasing the prospects of future job opportunities for women in the tech industry. Nordea in Poland was there as one of the partners of the conference, and many of our employees took part as speakers, workshop facilitators and mentors.

Diversity and inclusion at the workplace

Nordea believes that diversity drives innovation and success. Partnering with Women in Tech is a way to highlight the importance of gender equality in shaping the future of technology.

The collaboration featured a series of workshops, networking events and keynote speeches from influential women in the industry. These activities were designed to empower participants with the skills, knowledge and connections needed to thrive in tech careers.

“Participants in the Women in Tech event had the chance to engage with mentors, attend panel discussions and gain insights into the latest technological advancements. By facilitating these opportunities, we hope to inspire confidence and ambition among women, encouraging them to pursue and excel in tech roles. As the tech industry continues to evolve, Nordea remains steadfast in its mission to support women to ensure that the future of technology is inclusive, equitable and bright”, says Agnieszka Belowska-Gosławska, Head of Compliance Office, who took part in the “Women Go Boards” session at the summit as a representative of the Nordea leadership team in Poland.

Women in Tech

The Perspektywy Women in Tech Summit 2024, the premier event for women in STEM, Tech & IT in Europe, and Asia, took place on 12-13 June 2024 in Warsaw, Poland. This event brought together leading engineers, programmers, specialists, scientists, entrepreneurs, activists, leaders, start uppers, students, and early-career women, along with men and all supporters of diversity in the industry.

Featuring over 150 inspiring speakers and dozens of tech talks and workshops, the summit covered hot topics such as quantum computers, human-machine interactions, neurodiversity, data science, AI and machine learning, deep tech, cloud solutions, digital ecology, and cybersecurity. This year's guiding theme was Tech-Life Balance, emphasising the conscious use of technology to support neurodiversity, inclusion, sustainable development, and improved quality of life, rather than contributing to stress and digital fatigue.

For technology companies, events like the Perspektywy Women in Tech Summit are crucial. They promote diversity, foster inclusion, advance sustainable development and improve the quality of life for employees. By participating in and supporting such events, tech companies can stay innovative while building a more inclusive and sustainable industry.
