Nordea is the market leader in the provision of sub-custody services for international institutional investor clients wishing to hold and/or trade Nordic securities. The Baltic region is part of Nordea’s domestic market. We have an extensive Client Relations network, which is supported by local specialists with direct access to relevant market information and knowledge.
We are the only truly Nordic custodian and we look forward to discussing your needs when you are looking for a partner with local and Nordic expertise.
In addition to our processing, asset servicing and safekeeping services, we offer up-to-the-minute market information via regular newsflashes and newsletters. Our clients also benefit from comprehensive market profiles and fact sheets that are accessible through our e-tools. And naturally you are always welcome to contact your client team to discuss your specific needs.
We offer you extensive sub-custody services, including the following:
We would be happy to discuss your needs and recommend the optimal account structure for each market.
Most Nordic and Baltic listed securities are dematerialised and the trades are settled electronically. Our settlement system enables straight-through processing of incoming SWIFT instructions, as well as comprehensive reporting to support your processes.
In the Nordic and Baltic markets, dividends are generally paid annually on an actual dividend payment basis. Dividend payments usually take place in the spring as the fiscal year for most companies coincides with the calendar year. Nordea provides comprehensive reporting and automated income collection and payment services.
In Finland, Sweden and Norway, the withholding tax on dividend payments is usually withheld at source. In Denmark, the withholding tax cannot currently be levied at source. Nordea provides its clients with full tax reclaim services across the region.
Nordea’s asset servicing provides comprehensive cover of the entire life cycle of an event, including notifications, relevant account transactions and managing instructions. This is supported by reporting through each step of the process, as well as by customer support.
Nordea offers proxy voting services to its clients. This service covers meetings in publicly listed companies and includes the re-registration of the securities in the name of the beneficiary, where relevant, to enable voting, as well as representation at meetings on behalf on the client and/or the end beneficiary.
Nordea supports the SWIFT ISO15022 standard for settlement and corporate action reporting. In addition to this, monthly MIS and STP reporting is available. Furthermore, our clients can access real-time information on their cash and securities accounts through our e-tools. We would be happy to discuss our capabilities and your needs in more detail.
Nordea is uniquely positioned in all of the Nordic markets and is also extensively represented in all of the relevant market forums and working groups. Our clients therefore benefit from our market analysis and advocacy efforts, as well as a comprehensive insight into market developments.
