Yoshi’s Halloween Costume

At the beginning of my last academic year in the autumn of 2023, I was still not sure what I would be passionate about doing after graduating – so I applied to the graduate programme in September. I had heard about the programme before, so I knew it would give me opportunities to learn and advance my career. Right after receiving the job offer in late autumn, I booked flights to Japan to reward myself!

The graduate programme has been one of my best decisions career-wise. As a Personal Banking graduate I had the opportunity to develop my leadership skills right after starting the graduate programme. In addition, my second job rotation gave me a behind-the-scenes look at how customer services are developed in Personal Banking. The key learnings for me during these rotations were overcoming stage fright when presenting, learning how to manage projects effectively and developing Power BI dashboards to analyse data and gain insights.

The first months of the graduate programme were filled with new experiences and learning opportunities, as well as identifying new skills to develop. Not to mention the honour of meeting my fellow graduate colleagues who have become an important part of my life.

After an exciting start to the graduate programme with rotations in Personal Banking, I started my third and current rotation in Markets Scalable Sales & Concepts. I work with embedded interest rate hedging products such as caps and collars. Additionally, my team supports the adviser network and regularly meets with our stakeholders. Every day I learn something new and I enjoy the fast-paced, intellectually stimulating environment. I feel I’m on the right path and have found the place where I can fully utilise my experience, skills and gain further knowledge.

One of the best things in this programme is creating valuable memories with colleagues. Additionally, I have experienced growth both professionally and personally. I feel very privileged to get to meet amazing people who inspire me in my career, and I’m super excited to learn how many more different opportunities this programme has to offer. I highly encourage everybody to apply, especially if you want to build broad experience in banking before focusing on one particular area.
