Nordea's commitment to sustainable finance has once again earned recognition, with eight awards in Global Finance's 2025 Sustainable Finance Awards, including top rankings in global, regional and country categories.

Nordea remains fully committed to the Nordic transition to a low-carbon economy. Winning a suite of top rankings in this year’s Global Finance Sustainable Finance Awards 2025 demonstrates that our efforts are being recognised beyond our local borders.

Following a string of top rankings in 2024, our mission to lead the way within ESG and sustainability continues. In the Global Finance Sustainable Finance Awards 2025, Nordea continued its advance by winning eight awards, in competition with banks from all over the world.

“The wins are a tribute to the persisting sustainability efforts and reflect the strong cooperation across the bank both in sustainability and in client advisory. The strong Nordea platform, built by colleagues in all business areas, enables us to achieve top-class results together with our clients," says Lars Fischer, Head of Investment Banking & Equities.

As the largest Nordic bank, we play a significant role in promoting sustainable finance by offering best-in-class advisory and execution capabilities to our clients across the region. In a period with heightened global geopolitical and trade tensions, this is by no means a trivial task.

Expertise and strong collaboration

Nordea has the sustainable finance expertise within Sustainable Finance Advisory that can make an important difference when engaging in close customer dialogues. The team advises on sustainability-linked instruments to help companies embarking and progressing on their transition journey towards a more sustainable, net-zero future.

“The prize won in the category, 'Sustainable Finance Deal of the year 2025 for Western Europe for Valmet’s inaugural green bond' is a great example,” says Juho Maalahti, head of Sustainable Finance Advisory, referring to a customer case where we successfully structured Valmet’s debut EUR 200 million Green Bond.

The transaction allows the client to diversify its funding sources while supporting the company’s strategy in developing and delivering process technologies, services and automation to enable its customers’ carbon-neutral production. The green bond was issued under the client’s newly established Green Finance Framework, which further integrates Valmet's sustainability targets into its financing. Nordea acted as sole sustainability advisor for Valmet on the establishment of the framework.

“The recent awards show our dedication to helping accelerate our customers' transition to a sustainable future,” concludes Lars Fischer.
