During the past weeks we have seen a wave of increased Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks in the Nordic region.

“A DDoS attack is when an online system, such as a website or network, is made unavailable for users by drowning it with extremely large amounts of traffic. The primary goal is to prevent users from being able to use or access a website and its services. We have strong defences and we are continuously strengthening these further as the threat actors get more sophisticated. Our enhanced defence mechanisms are reducing the impact from the attacks, but it can still happen that customers temporarily see slower or unavailable services. This is a very unfortunate situation for our customers and we apologise for the inconvenience this is causing”, says Marc Hofmann, Chief Security Officer.

Nordea, like other companies, is from time to time subject to DDoS attacks. Our priority number one is to always be able to service our customers. We are constantly working on ensuring normal operation and services for our customers. From time to time these attacks can lead to temporary slowness in some of our digital channels or services being unavailable for periods of time.

If you under these circumstances experience slowness or are denied access to Nordea Mobile or Netbank we recommend that you try again in a while.
