Now, let’s meet William and Lorraine for some insight.
During the internship, William rotated between Research & Risk Solutions, FX Sales, Emerging Markets Solutions, and Derivative Coverage.
William Gormsen
I work in the Research & Risk Solutions team which I joined after my summer internship in Nordea Market in 2025. My role covers two key areas; On the Macro Research side, I support our economists and analysts with data analysis and visualizations while contributing to weekly publications and major reports like the Nordea Economic Outlook. On the Risk Solutions side, I contribute to helping large corporates manage their financial risk through optimal debt allocation and FX and interest rate derivatives.
The best things about the internship?
The most valuable aspect was just how hands-on it was from day one. I was included, challenged, and trusted with real tasks. Rotating between teams also made the internship especially valuable, because it gave a much better understanding of Markets as a whole. The camaraderie with fellow interns was equally rewarding. Our weekly events fostered both personal connections and deeper insights into each team's work.
Any recommendations to students who are considering to apply?
My best advice is to be yourself in the process and let your motivation come through clearly. You do not need to have all the answers, but curiosity, dedication, and a willingness to learn really matter. It also helps to follow the markets a bit beforehand and reflect on why Nordea Markets is the right fit for you.

Lorraine Zhang
I work as an Assistant Dealer in Markets FX Spot Trading where I’ve worked full time since November 2025. I enjoy my work, and am currently getting on track to execute FX spot trading, while I also participate in various pricing/automation projects in Markets FX Algo Trading.
Why should students apply?
I highly recommend Markets’ eight weeks’ summer internship. It was really fulfilling with a steep learning curve – so, it was challenging but also a lot of fun. It’s a good window to learn about the areas in Markets that you are interested in. It also offers sufficient exposure to other desks/teams which us interns could reach to – and everyone were very supportive and happy to share what they were working on. It was also a good experience to onboard and learn about Markets together with the fellow interns, and we also enjoyed plenty of social afterwork activities arranged for us.
Your recommendations to students who are considering to apply?
Use the many opportunities offered to learn about the different positions in Nordea Markets, and pursue the field that you are really interested in.

What a joy to once again welcome a new group of bright, ambitious talents to our Nordea Women’s Finance Insight Programme.
