Nordea and Tokmanni Group have concluded a cooperation agreement in Finland enabling Nordea's customers to withdraw cash from their bank accounts in connection with purchases paid with cards at stores belonging to the Tokmanni Group. Tokmanni will offer this service as of 18 June 2012.

The service is free of charge and only requires that the customer has a Nordea Visa Debit or Visa Electron card, or a Nordea MasterCard or Visa combination card with a debit feature. Customers can withdraw cash in connection with purchases paid with a card. The cash withdrawal can be a maximum of 200 euros per payment transaction. There is no minimum euro limit to the purchase.

Customers can withdraw cash with chip cards at store checkouts equipped with a payment terminal allowing the customer to pay for the purchase and the cash withdrawal by using the card's PIN.

The Tokmanni Group has 144 stores around Finland. The Group's store brands are Tokmanni, Tarjoustalo, Vapaa Valinta, Robinhood, Säästöpörssi, Maxi-Makasiini and Maxi-Kodintukku.

This new cashback service is a practical additional service for customers who pay for their purchases with cards. The cashback service has been offered by major retail chains in the other Nordic countries for a long time, and customers have been very pleased with the service.

"Thanks to this cooperation our customers get more options for cash withdrawals. Customer behaviour is changing, and we are developing our services accordingly. The number of cash withdrawals at our branches is decreasing, while card payments have increased significantly in recent years. This new service offered by Tokmanni will make our customers' everyday life easier, as they can withdraw the cash they need while doing their shopping," says Ville-Veikko Laukkanen, head of Segment Household and Group Marketing Finland.

"This new form of service extends the service range we offer to our customers. In addition, we are able to rotate cash better than before," says Heikki Väänänen, CEO of the Tokmanni Group.

As previously, customers will get a receipt for their purchases which itemises the purchases from the store and the cash withdrawal, if there is a withdrawal. The purchases paid with the card and the cash withdrawal will be debited to the customer's account as a single transaction.

Heikki Väänänen, CEO of the Tokmanni Group, and Ville-Veikko Laukkanen, head of Nordea's Segment Household and Group Marketing Finland, will discuss this subject further in a press conference held at Nordea, Aleksanterinkatu 36 B, today Tuesday 12 June at 10.30. Welcome!
