Sara Mella and Jussi Mekkonen will take up new duties in Nordea's Retail Banking on 1 October 2013.
Sara Mella, Master of Social Sciences, has been appointed Head of the new Operations function in Finland and the Baltic countries. The function is responsible for developing business operations, as well as the development and operation of products, services and processes offered to Retail Banking's personal and corporate customers.
Mella has worked at Nordea since 2010, having previously served with the bank between 1992 and 2007, and possesses wide-ranging experience in various tasks in Retail Banking. Currently she serves as one of the three Deputy Heads of Banking in Finland.
Jussi Mekkonen, 41, M.Sc. (Agriculture and Forestry), has been appointed as Sara Mella's successor as Deputy Head of Banking. Mekkonen will be responsible for the following branch regions in Retail Banking Finland: Southern Savo; Helsinki, Surroundings; Helsinki, City Centre; Central Finland; Lapland; Northern Ostrobothnia and Kainuu; Päijät-Häme; Satakunta; Savo-Karjala; and Vantaa. He will also be in charge of Nordea Customer Service.
Currently Mekkonen serves in Nordea's Retail Banking as the Head of Branch Region in charge of corporate services in the Greater Helsinki area. He has worked at Nordea since 1995, previously holding the position of Head of Segment Household and Group Marketing Finland.
