(FFP #5) As all of us FFPs have had time to settle in at Nordea, it was time for the second social event, arranged by our dedicated Fun Managers – who, so far, surely live up to their name. So, we were pretty excited to see what they had in store for us this time! Here goes – The Amazing Race.
After a productive day at work, we were ready to have some fun together, and test our skills in problem solving. The event kicked-off with some pizza in the lounge at Nordea, and after dinner and team assignments, the hunt for the prized reward of the Amazing Race, FFP edition, began.
The first step of the race was about completing a map of the campus, and finding out where the instructions for step two were hidden.
All of the teams managed to solve step 1 easily, and figured out that the directions pointed towards the famous amusement park Linnanmäki. The race was now fully on, and the teams left the campus with haste towards the second objective.

After some searching, all of the teams found their way to the destination. There, each team was provided with a ticket to one ride on the rollercoaster, and with seemingly simple instructions we also managed to go to the old rollercoaster, and take a picture with the team insignias showing. This, however, turned out to be more difficult than expected to some teams, as they headed to the wrong rollercoaster.
After a thrilling ride, the teams proceeded to get instructions for the third part of the race.
Most teams had no problems finding the third place, but for others it was hidden in plain sight. Eventually, everyone arrived to the target location; the Pub Pressapari on Kolmas Linja. Here we were given a list of hints to songs and a link to a website that required a password to log on. Following the instructions, the teams, after some struggle, figured out the correct password from the clues given. The instructions pointed the brave teams to Karhupuisto, where the second to last objective was waiting.
In the sunny Helsinki afternoon, the teams raced towards Karhupuisto. Upon arrival, each team got two objectives: First, complete a game, and afterwards solve an anagram containing the destination of the finish line.
Some solved it quickly but for others the task seemed almost impossible at first. After a while, and thanks to good teamwork efforts, they got their heads around it too, and finally each team was on their way to the final destination where the winning price of the race was waiting for the quickest team.
The winning price was not only the endless admiration of one’s peers, but also a bottle of the finest wine one could get from the bottom shelf of Alko.
The event brought us FFPs even closer together, we got to know one another better. We all agree that the event was a big success. Competing together brought a great element to the event, pushing people to collaborate closely with each other to solve the different assignments.
The aim is not only about winning and being the best, but as much about learning to work together towards a common goal, and helping one’s peers to succeed. It makes all the difference and is good fun.
