Anja Lidgren Hannerz has been acting Head of Group Sustainability since September, and before that she was deputy head of the project management office for the Group ESG Programme. The programme was established in 2021 to cater for the implementation of the Group’s sustainability strategy, including data sourcing, IT solutions and operating model development.

Prior to joining Nordea, Anja has held several leadership positions in Handelsbanken within the finance and risk areas. In her most recent position she was Head of Finance Sweden in Handelsbanken.

“Sustainability is such an important long-term strategic opportunity for Nordea and one of the key levers in delivering on Nordea’s 2025 targets. The work we do today will impact our future society and I believe that Nordea can really make a difference in this area together with our customers,” says Anja Lidgren Hannerz.

Sustainability at Nordea

Nordea has committed to becoming a bank with net-zero emissions by 2050 and has set a medium-term objective to reduce carbon emissions across its lending and investment portfolios by 40-50% by 2030. To achieve this and to be an even more sustainable bank Nordea has fully integrated sustainability into the business strategy. The Group Sustainability function supports the Group Leadership Team in coordinating and executing the bank’s sustainability agenda in close collaboration with Nordea’s business areas.
