The global economy was characterised by a high degree of resilience in a tumultuous 2025, with the prospect of renewed growth in 2026. However, there are significant risks are associated with the unpredictable geopolitical situation most recently illustrated by President Trump's new punitive tariffs against a number of EU countries. In addition, the debt challenges facing several major industrialised countries may give rise to concern. By comparison, the healthy and stable Nordic economies are in a favourable position. The monetary easing cycle is coming to an end, but political pressure may lead to several rate cuts in the US.
