Malthe Falck, Head of Group Digital.

Financial health is fundamental to wellbeing, resilience and long-term growth. Helping customers to understand their finances and feel in control throughout their lives is a core part of Nordea’s role as a bank.

“This recognition from The Banker is an important acknowledgement of our work to support financial health,” says Malthe Falck, Head of Group Digital. “We see financial health as a shared responsibility between the bank and the customer. Our role is to make financial information understandable and actionable, so people can make informed and confident choices.”

Digital tools that turn complexity into clarity

Nordea has built a connected set of digital solutions that support customers throughout life stages – from children learning about money to adults managing everyday finances and entrepreneurs running small and medium-sized businesses. The Banker’s award recognises both the scope of these solutions and how they work together to create value for customers. Here are some examples from across our markets and platforms:

Financial Health Check

The Financial Health Check analyses a customer’s finances and provides a simple overview of their situation, highlighting areas such as savings, insurance or long-term planning that may need attention. Based on this overview, customers receive clear suggestions for possible next steps.

Subscription management

Nordea’s subscription management tool automatically identifies recurring payments and gathers them into one view. Customers can see what they are paying for and cancel unwanted subscriptions directly in the app, helping them gain better everyday financial control.

Gimi: financial learning for children

Through its partnership with Gimi, Nordea enables children and parents to manage allowances, savings and spending together through a dedicated app. Children learn by handling real money in a controlled environment, with age-appropriate guidance.

Business Insights for SMEs

Business Insights brings key financial data together in one view, helping small and medium-sized business owners to track cash flow, understand performance, carry out competitor analysis and plan ahead without needing financial expertise.

“The digital tools are designed to help customers understand their financial situation and take action,” Falck explains. “Together, they form a broader financial health ecosystem that supports customers proactively and helps identify potential challenges early.”

Supporting more resilient people, businesses and economies

Financial health goes beyond the needs of individual customers. It affects how businesses grow and how resilient societies and economies become over time. In the Nordic region, where digital services are widely used, accessible financial tools can make a real difference.

“Strong financial health supports people, businesses and the wider economy,” says Falck. “By continuing to develop digital tools that are easy to understand and use, we want to build financial confidence at scale and contribute to resilient Nordic societies.”
