Every day brings something new. One day Rasmus helps analyse earnings results and updates financial models, the next he dives into industry trends, and joins investor and client meetings – to give a few examples of the wide-ranging tasks he takes on as an assistant analyst trainee in Equity Research. In his blog, Rasmus shares why he enjoys his role, how trainees are trusted with real responsibility, and what makes the FFP experience both rewarding and highly recommendable.
Hi, I’m Rasmus. I work as Assistant Analyst in Equity Research as part of the Future Finance Professional (FFP) programme. This autumn, I will continue my academic journey by pursuing a Master’s degree in Finance at Aalto University.
As an FFP trainee in Nordea’s Equity Research team, I spend my days following the financial markets, analysing listed companies, and supporting our highly experienced equity analysts in Nordea LC&I (Large Corporates & Institutions). One of my main responsibilities is producing our morning report, where we summarise the most important market events and company news before the markets open and trading begins.
What I enjoy the most about this role is the variety of intriguing tasks. One day I may be helping analyse quarterly earnings results, while the next I am researching industry trends, updating financial models, preparing materials for client discussions, and meeting with institutional investors or C-suite executives of listed companies. This constant exposure to different companies and sectors has significantly broadened my understanding of the Nordic equity market.
The learning curve has been steep from day one, which is largely thanks to the supportive and knowledgeable colleagues around me. Trainees are given meaningful responsibility and encouraged to contribute, making the experience both educational and rewarding.
Beyond the daily work, the FFP programme has also provided a great opportunity to get to know other trainees and learn about different parts of Nordea Markets and the Nordea organisation in general. The combination of professional development, responsibility, and a collaborative atmosphere has made the experience highly valuable.
Overall, my time as an FFP trainee has confirmed my interest in financial markets and equity analysis, and I would highly recommend the programme to anyone considering a career in finance.

(#2 SE) Time flies when you’re busy having fun, learning and networking - which is the case for the three summer interns at our trading floor in Stockholm. The past three weeks, they’ve been quite busy investigating interest rate risks, digging into portfolio theory, hybrids bonds and autocallables, while cracking cases, and getting a taste of what it’s like to work in Equity Sales. All topped with nice lunches, fun after-work drinks and dinners with various team.
