Now, let’s meet Lina Johansson who is currently on her last years of my masters in Accounting and Financial Management at Uppsala University.

5 questions with Lina:

Where in Nordea do you work? What do you like most about your job?

I am currently working as intern in Investment Banking within the Corporate Finance team where I’m half-way through my 10 week Internship.

What I enjoy most about this internship is the fast pace and steep learning curve. From day one, you are trusted with similar tasks to those handles by full-time Analysts, but of course with more support. This gives you a clear understanding of what a full-time role within Corporate Finance involves, and really challenges us interns from the very start.

What kind of work and daily tasks do you have?

Over the past six weeks I have been part of several different projects, including everything from supporting pitch materials to contributing to live deals and IPO preparations. Much of my daily tasks include collecting and analysing data and turning it into presentable material.

How did you land a job after partaking in WFIP – why do you think you it?

Over the past six months, I’ve had the chance to experience two different departments at Nordea. In addition to my current internship in Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, I spent the summer as an intern at Nordea Equity Research. When I applied for the Equity Research internship, I had already been accepted to attend WFIP, so I highlighted this in my application to help it stand out – which it did.

During the WFIP, I got even more keen on working at Nordea, so I also applied for the Corporate Finance internship. Since one of the WFIP leads we met during the programme works in the Corporate Finance team, I had the chance to discuss this internship with her and ask her questions about it, which I believe gave me an advantage later during the application process. So, I think, in both cases, WFIP was a door opener to my two internships at Nordea.

Can you share some tips on how to apply for the WFIP and in general?

If you are interested in a career in finance, or maybe just curious about Nordea, I highly recommend applying. You get to learn about a lot of different departments within Nordea and do different cases related to these departments. The programme also gives you a chance to connect with other women who share similar career ambitions, while also building a network within the bank. I am still in touch with several of the girls I met during the programme!
