We asked our employees: what’s the best thing about the Tallinn office?

I love that there are different areas dedicated to different types of work – quiet and focus areas for individual work, smaller and bigger meeting rooms, open areas for project work and collaboration areas for bigger meet-ups – all equipped with the best easy to use technology.

Jaana from the Tallinn office

I’m very glad to see accessibility features being installed at the office – like the self-opening doors we have on multiple floors. I also think we have well-equipped break rooms, and I’ve noticed more and more plants, which is always welcome!

Meet our people in Estonia

Julius

Senior Process Specialist

I am a senior process specialist in the Credit Data Collection team in Operations, providing data to support the development of risk models at Nordea. This role requires me to work with significant amounts of data to extract meaningful insights according to the guidelines set by our stakeholders at the bank.

I’m originally from Kampala, Uganda, but have lived in four different countries. I got to know about Nordea Estonia through a job ad platform called Work in Estonia during my studies in TalTech. Nordea stood out as it offered a multicultural working environment with a connection to the Nordics.

What I like most about my job is the sense of belonging and inclusivity at our workplace. Nordea truly values people on a personal level, which makes even the challenging days just as great. I also like working with driven colleagues who are visibly passionate about what they are doing. I enjoy the small steps we take every day in my team to serve our customers better. It is about the journey, the whole picture of where we have come from as a team, the ups and downs and turbulence along the way.

Working with the Cross-Cultural Employee Resource Group (ERG) both locally in Estonia and at Group level is something that makes me happy to go to work every day. I love to learn about the different nationalities we have in our company. Contributing to creating an inclusive space means so much for me.

Oksana

Know Your Customer Analyst

My name is Oksana and I’m a Know Your Customer analyst working for the corporate market. I moved to Tallinn from a small border town called Narva. I joined Nordea in 2016, but my career in banking started in the 1990s with the position of a junior teller. I also have experience as an export manager for various large manufacturers. My previous experience helps me to understand our customers better, their business processes and needs. I also enjoy the process of analysis and working with documents and data.

I like that Nordea has always been people-oriented both as regards customers and employees. Our internal environment supports all of us to learn and grow. We have a multinational team of professionals with diverse backgrounds and work experience. I know that my colleagues are always ready to support me and share their knowledge with me. I enjoy working at our modern comfortable office which is located in Ülemiste City.

We have various interesting events together with a team. There are also a lot of different communities at Nordea and I’m a member of some of those.

Sten

Senior Analyst in CFO Business Banking

I started at Nordea about seven years ago as a financial plan specialist in the Finnish team. After two years I was given the opportunity to lead the Loan Amendments FI team, where I stayed for three years. I’ve been trying to constantly develop myself throughout my journey and have never turned down new challenges. Today I’m working within the BB CFO team where I contribute to many different processes and support finance partners and Business Banking CFOs in all the Nordic countries.

I was born and raised in Tallinn, Estonia. I joined Nordea when my girlfriend suggested that I should give it a try and apply. I was hired and the journey has taken on a life of its own at Nordea.

Since Nordea has grown a lot, there is always a lot of opportunities for career development. The crucial component is the people I work with and have had the pleasure of meeting during my time here. Everybody might not realise how important the people you work with are.

Our colleagues are very diverse and come from all around the world. In addition, I’ve been able to meet a lot of new people from the Nordics, Poland and Estonia.

There’s joy in the little things. It always gives a sense of accomplishment and makes me feel good when I manage to handle or complete something new
