Did you know?
That Nordea in Estonia was the first corporate team ever
to attend Pride in Tartu, Estonia?
From Nordea, members from our LGBTQ+ employee resource group, friends and supporters took part in the Baltic Pride parade to show support for diversity, equality and human rights.
The celebrations continued with a picnic and an open-air concert where Nordea was also present at the festival space with a tent where everyone could stop by to discuss Pride, how we work with LGBTQ+ rights at our workplace and with diversity and inclusion in general.
Country Senior Executive Tiina Käsi also attended the parade and was opening the afternoon Pride celebration with the words:
“Diversity and inclusion are part of Nordea´s DNA; it´s our richness, pride and way of being. It also means zero tolerance towards any kind of discrimination, including homophobic and transphobic behaviour. At Nordea we say: come as you are, because everyone needs to feel safe to be their authentic self. There´s never us and them; there´s just us. Together.”
After Tiina, Hanna Kannelmäe stepped forward on the stage and spoke about being a representative of Estonia's LGBTQ+ employee resource group. She told how her concerns about being an active member of the group had quickly been replaced by pride of being at workplace where you experience great support for LGBTQ+ rights, and also by the joy she felt in seeing many colleagues gathered for Pride.
