Nils Bolmstrand, Head of Nordea Asset Management.

Since its launch in June 2025, the Nordea Empower Europe Fund has attracted both private and institutional investors from across the Nordic region and beyond. Most investors are based in Finland and Denmark, followed by Norway and Sweden and a smaller share from the rest of Europe. Nils Bolmstrand, Head of Nordea Asset Management, explains:

“Europe is moving into a defining stage in its economic and strategic development. Current geopolitical and economic conditions are influencing how capital is being allocated across the region. The rapid growth of the Empower Europe Fund reflects growing investor conviction that this shift is structural and long-term and not just short-term, creating compelling opportunities across European equities.”

Tapping into long-term resilience themes

The fund has also been boosted by several customer initiatives. Rizvan Samaletdin, Head of Private Banking in Finland, says:

“We have extensively covered this theme in our digital communication and in our large autumn event for 2,000 customers about geopolitics and investments, which has contributed to increased interest among them. It is great that we can offer investment opportunities that provide value for customers but also tap into the long-term resilience themes developing in Europe.”

The fund focuses on companies that support Europe’s efforts to strengthen its independence in three key areas: production, energy, and defence. These themes are expected to shape Europe’s future for years to come, creating opportunities for investors seeking stability and growth.
